27 July Summer!!I guess I had gotten out of the habit of updating this thing. It's not that I've been that busy, but I don't feel like my life has been as much of a roller coaster as it was before. I think it's because I'm done with school.
Anyway...summer has been great. I haven't been working because us teachers get to have the summer off. Technically, I'm not a full blown teacher yet though. I'm actually looking for a job for the fall. I do have a job as a teacher's assistant, but of course the money isn't as good as when you have your own classroom.
Joel and I have been taking a few weekend trips here and there. We were in Cincinnati a couple of weeks ago visiting some friends and it was so much fun. We went to a Red's game. The Red's won, and it was nice to go to a game where the team you are rooting for actually wins. (All you Cubs fans out there know what I mean)!!
I will try and post some pictures from my friends wedding in the Bahamas. I know we got em' somewhere...I just gotta find em'.
Until then....!!!
Ciao 24 April What a Relief!!Well, it's official!! I am done, done, done with my thesis, and can now graduate. I'm sooooo glad to be done, you have no idea. I won't be walking in the ceremony though. Instead, I will be basking in the sunshine
It's kind of strange, because I don't really feel any different or any smarter with my Master's Degree being completed. However, I must say that a huge weight has been lifted off of my shoulders.
Oh, except I do need to find a teaching job. Ugh!!! I hate looking for a job. 15 March Moving!!Well, Joel and I will be moving in about three weeks. There is so much to do between now and then, and amongst all the chaos I'm still trying to complete my thesis for my master's degree. The final draft is due 4 days after we move. Such fun!!! I'm just looking forward to being done with school. No more degrees for me after this.
I haven't started packing yet. I'm going to start this weekend, along with picking out paint colors and other decorative stuff for the new place. I've already done some window shopping. I can't wait to be all moved in, and see how everything will look. Spring break is coming up in one week, so it will give me plenty of time to finish up packing and getting other stuff done.
The one thing that I'm really looking forward to though, is my friends wedding in the Bahamas
Little Friday is doing much better, and doesn't seem as stressed out. But just in case she starts to act weird again, the vet prescribed her some vallium. I'm sure we'll be putting that to good use during our move.
Well, that's pretty much it, so ciao for now!! 06 March Freaky Friday!!!I wonder how many of you are cat
My cat Friday has been acting really bazarre lately.
It's kind of strange because I was curious as to what causes cats to become ill in that way. The vet explained to me that while many people believe that cats are independent, the opposite is actually the case. Cats tend to be very in tuned with their owners and so if the owner has a lot going on and is stressed, the cat will also get stressed out. It's almost like Friday knows that we are getting ready to move and that there is a lot that Joel and I are dealing with at this time in our lives.
She is doing a little bit better these days, but the past couple of weeks have just been crazy with her. I felt so bad for her, because she really did seem restless and stressed out, and the vet even prescribed her some vallium.
Anyway, I'm hoping that she will take this move ok, as I know that cats do not accept change willingly. Perhaps that vallium will come in handy during the move. 27 February Stressful timesThere has been a great deal going on in Joel's and my life lately. I guess that I've been feeling a little stressed and anxious.
First off, I've been trying to finish up writing my thesis for my master's degree. I'm probably about 75% done, but the deadline for the final draft is March 15th.
Next on the agenda, my girlfriend is getting married in the Bahamas
I'm also involved in helping to plan her wedding shower,
Finally, Joel and I have bought a condo, and will be moving at the beginning of April. So, I'm kind of nervous about that too. Our lease for our apartment isn't up until the end of July, and so we are trying to find a subletter for the remaing four months. Otherwise, we will be dishing out a lot of cash
So, as you can see, there is a lot going on in our lives right now. I know that most of these things should be something to look forward to, but when they all happen at once, I guess it just tends to stress me out. I am excited and stressed all at once!!!
24 February Busy...busy...busy!!Wow, time sure flies by!!
I've been working as an Instructional Aide since January, at the school where I did my student teaching. While the pay is pretty much next to nothing, the experience will be benificial to my future teaching career, and useful for my resume.
For those of you who have been praying for my father, he is doing better after the surgery he had one his eye. However, recently, the pressure has begun to go up again. The doctor told him that it looks like the drain they put in has become clogged a little bit, and the chances of this occuring is 1 in 4. Not very good chances, I guess!!! At least he's been back at work since January, and hopefully this won't get any worse. The doctor will have to go back in and remove the clog in the drain, though. I guess we'll just have to wait and see what happens next.
Well, there are a couple more updates I would like to add, but don't want to bore anyone to death, so you can look for these in the near future!!! For real, I Promise!!!
09 November An Update!!Well, my dad still isn't doing too well. He hasn't shown any signs of improvement, so my mom decided to go ahead and take him the emergency room this morning. My cooperating teacher at school was nice enough to let me leave early, so that I could go with and help my mom.
Anyway, he was pretty dehydrated from not being able to really eat or drink much in the past week, and he's lost a ton of weight. The pain in his eye from the glaucoma has gotten worse over the last few days too. I'm glad that we took him in though, because they were able to give him some fluids to rehydrate him, give him some pain medication as well as some other medication to stop the nausea. He was told that he needs to have surgery on his eye within the next couple of days in order to relieve the pressure. I'm really praying that the surgery will be successful, and that he will be able to regain his strength.
Thank you to anyone out there who read my previous blog, and was willing to say that "get well" prayer.
~Ciao for now!!~ 03 November A Call for Prayer!!I'm not sure what kind of response I might get from this blog entry!! But I need to send out a call for prayer!!
For the past couple of weeks, my father has been of poor health. The short story of it all is that they found out he has Glaucoma in one of his eyes. Pretty much that means that the fluid in his eye is not draining that way that it should, which results in extremely high pressure pushing on the eye and the optic nerve. Well, the doctor performed some kind of laser surgery on his eye, and then prescribed some oral medication as well as eye drops in order to continue reducing the pressure in his eye. However, the medicine resulted in making him very ill, and he doesn't have an appetite. I guess he hasn't been eating like he should, and the worst part of it, is that he is diabetic, so he needs to eat at certain times in order to keep his blood sugar regulated.
In any case, the purpose for this entry, is to call on those of you fellow bloggers who may believe in the power of prayer. I'm really worried about my father, and I pray for him to start feeling better soon. I know that most anyone who reads this blog will not even know my father, but I feel in my heart that many of you would be willing to say a short "get well" prayer for him.
With Great Appreciation ~ Vicki 27 October A Championship for Chicago!!Hurray for the Chicago White Sox!!
I can't believe that I'm actually saying that, as I am a true CUBS fan!!
More than anything, I am a huge fan of the city of Chicago in itself,
Besides, last year the Red Sox, this year the White Sox, both of which who haven't won in years. So, maybe the CUBS can break the curse next year. After all, they're about due!! 20 October Getting Older!!I remember when I was a kid, I just couldn't wait to grow up. I wanted to grow up, so I could do whatever I wanted, go wherever I wanted, learn how to drive, earn money and spend it the way that I wanted. But now that I'm all grown up, I wish that I was a kid again. Well, maybe not really a kid, but I wish I had the care free life of a kid. Nothing to worry about accept what homework was due the next day. Obviously those days are long gone!!
The most difficult part, to me, about getting older is that your parents are even older than you are, and sometimes it's really hard to see them age. It's almost like the roles have been reversed. Where I was always taken care of by my parents when I was a kid, now it's my turn to help take care of them. Grant it, my parents aren't even that old yet, but I can't help but worry, when I know that my father has some health problems.
I hate to see them go through a difficult time, and I dread the day when I have to watch either of them go through even harder times. I just hope that I can be there for them, as they have always been there for me each time that I've needed them.
Anyway...sorry that this entry seems a bit depressing, but I just had to express how I felt today!! Until next time!!! Ciao!!
